T1: Logical Design

Network Architecture Components

In association with the complete analysis being conducted here designing of a logical network for Melbourne hotel, the seven of the network architecture components that were required to be used had been summarized below (Khan et al. 2020):

  • • Local Area Network: - A Local Area Network had been determined to play the most crucial role in connecting the two buildings of the Melbourne Hotel under a single network.
  • • Campus Backbone: -A Campus Backbone would be implemented for developing a subtle connection among the two buildings of the Melbourne Hotel.
  • • Building Backbone: -A Building Backbone had been beneficial for establishing a subtle connection among different networking components that had been established at either of the buildings at Melbourne hotel.
  • • Data Centers: -The Data centers here would be beneficial for both generating as well as managing respective data which would be utilized by the network of Melbourne Hotel.
  • • E-Commerce Edge: -An E-Commerce Edge had been considered crucial here for helping the Melbourne hotel to interact with more travelers, while maintaining their business with an enormous increment in business deals and productivity with edge commerce.
  • • Internet Access: -The internet access had been considered beneficial here for allowing each of the network devices to communicate with each other, while transmitting data from one building to another and vice versa
  • • Wide Area Network: -A Wide Area Network would also be utilized here for establishing a connection in between the Melbourne hotel with the other two branches of Hospitality Hotel, namely the Hotel of Sydney and that of Adelaide.
Application Systems

The associated network designer that had been associated with designing a network for Melbourne Hotel, should be requiring to successfully identify the key application systems and services that were required to be executed at their network. Based on the complete analysis being conducted here, it can be determined that the Melbourne Hotel here had been associated with utilizing a vivid range of programs, that would be including both internal as well as external programs, namely the Email-servers, the Payroll, Web Servers, Video Conferencing, Workforce, Microsoft Teams, as well as File Servers, respectively (Litke, Anagnostopoulos and Varvarigou 2019). Therefore, for meeting the application needs of Melbourne Hotel would require the implementation of several costly equipment and software, alongside with a high-speed internet connection, respectively.

Network Users

Based on the complete analysis being conducted here, the new users that would be interacting with the new network to be established at the Melbourne Hotel, would consecutively include the following personnels:

  • • IT Staff: - These individuals would be associated with the network here for maintaining as well as managing the working of the network infrastructure.
  • • Hotel Staff: -These individuals here would be associated with using the hotel network for e-Commerce, PMS, as well as POS system access.
  • • Guests: -These individuals would be the one who would be interacting with the network of Melbourne hotel, and would be associated with utilizing it for their personal purposes.
Categorizing Network Needs

The following new network that had been determined to be designed to be used for the Melbourne Hotel, the categorization of network according to its need had been conducted below (Qi and Zhang 2023):

  • • Data Centers: - These would be used for storing as well as managing the network as well as data of POS, and PMS.
  • • E-Commerce Edge: - This would be beneficial for enabling a secure and efficient online transactions services for both the guests as well as staffs.
  • • Wireless Area Network Access: -This would be beneficial for allowing Melbourne hotel to connected with the other two branch of Hospitality Hotel, located at Sydney and Adelaide.
  • • Guest Room Network Access: -This would be beneficial for assisting each guest with a high-speed internet, so as to help them to access several data through internet.
  • • Staff Network Access: -This would be beneficial for allowing the Hotel staff to easily access the POS as well as PMS, alongside with the services of e-Commerce system.

T2: Physical Design

Client and Server Design

A client-server network had been determined to be as the kind of arrangement of network where a large number of clients were associated with using a single server as a single host for requesting as well as receiving their network requests. In association with the network being designed here for Melbourne Hotel, one of the buildings here would be composed of 30 guest rooms, while another building would be composed of 12 rooms for conference purposes, that would be used by the travelers for conducting conference meetings. The second building of the Melbourne hotel would be composed of data center and e-commerce edge, alongside with housing two of the six printers, respectively. The rest of the four printers had been identified to be installed at the three floors of the building 1 of Melbourne Hotel (Pivoto et al. 2021).

Designing Circuits
  • The entire structure for the LAN here had been following a Tree Topology, where the Router situated at the Campus Backbone is responsible for providing connection to all the network devices that had been available at Melbourne hotel network;
  • For the Physical design for Melbourne Hotel, the two of the buildings here would be required to have a wireless network APs, which in return would be connected to the network switches. These APs would be responsible for establishing connection with the end network devices like that of Laptop, smart phone, as well as printer;
  • A Cat7-Ethernet cable had been required to be utilized here at the new network of Melbourne Hotel. The campus backbone here would be connected to all the switches that had been present within the network. Finally, with the use of a router, the network circuit will be connected to the WAN, which would be helping Melbourne hotel to stay connected with the networks of Sydney and Adelaide hotel (Wang et al. 2023).
Network Design Tools

Apart from the varieties of tools that had been available in the market, for designing network interface and modellings, there had been available various open-source tools, which had been beneficia for allowing their users to create an extremely interactive network design, without allowing them to download any external plugins. One of such tools to be used here for designing the network interface for Melbourne Hotel is Draw.io. For successively preparing the network design for the Melbourne hotel, the most used tool for network architecture and modelling which had been utilized here is Draw.io, is identified to be as an open-source tool, which is most widely used for designing such network designs (Mahendra 2021).

T3: Minimizing the Wi-Fi APs Interfaces

The connected Melbourne Hotel herein should be employing a distinct channel for each of the Access Points on various levels in order to sequentially minimize the interferences produced by the Wi-Fi APs that had been deployed on various floors of the network. This may be done in stages by setting up various APs using a non-overlapping route, which designates that each AP installed on each of the three levels would be utilizing a different channel.

T4: Assumptions and Explanations

I had made a number of assumptions before I started constructing the network diagram that goes with this. Based on the assignment criteria, I installed a specific number during laptops and smartphones in each room on the floor of the guest building, whereas I only installed a small number of computers and smartphones in the conference room because there is no mention at all of the number of end-devices are going to be used across both of the two structures and each floor. I have set up two Wi-Fi APs in the conference rooms and three wireless APs on each floor to enable all end devices to join to the network. These devices were sequentially linked to the switching device, which was then sequentially paired with the campus central router. In order for them to experience high-speed data transfer, I further had moved to use the best quality CAT 7 cables to make the link while considering the hotel building's future. Although the installation of a data center and an e-commerce edge was required, the network already included a data center for data management and storage. With a total of six printer had been sequentially installed in the Melbourne Hotel, where the four were installed on each of each of the three levels of guest rooms and remaining two installed in the conference room.
